    Hello EE folk,

    I am looking into/testing EE as a possible solution for a client (and personal) use.  The one problem I have is the whole web file edit thing.  Is there a way to use an IDE or text editor for EE templates? If so where do I find the files?

    Is it only one file for example root/themes/site_themes/default/default.php?

    What makes me believe it is not, is when I create a new group and then a new css file I can’t find that file anywhere!

    Thank you

    ~Nick

    You could use something like TextMate and the EE Bundle if you wanted to edit then you could use an add-on such as Templatizer ) http://devot-ee.com/add-ons/extensions/templatizer/ ) which allows you to upload files via FTP and it effects your EE templates

    Check the docs (also check caveats at bottom of page):
    http://expressionengine.com/docs/templates/flat_file_templates.html

    Once saved as flat files you can use any editor you like, although Textmate with the EE bundles is though to beat 😊

    @e-man

    Thanks exactly what I was looking for!  Sadly I am working on windows.  Know of a text editor which has an EE bundles for PC?

    @Justin Long

    Will templetizer also take care of revisions, or should I do that myself?

    I believe something like BBEdit runs on Windows. Here is the link to the bundle http://www.chrisruzin.net/entry/textmate_expressionengine_bundle/ I have never used templatizer myself but I am a stronger believer in on and offsite backups

    @Justin

    That seems like it is for Textmate only… is that true, can it plug into any windows based editor… like Notepad++, eclipse, Aptana?
