    Hello,
I’d like to make some changes to the control panel by adding a few extra buttons for my client.  Is this possible, and if so, how would I go about making these changes?

    Thank you.

If I understand your question correctly, there are two places you can accomplish this. You will have to be logged in as the client you want to create the links for.

CP Home ›  My Account ›  Quick Links

    OR

CP Home ›  Myaccount ›  Tab Manager

This feature is handy for adding quick links to deep pages in the control panel, making it easy for you to guide the client in their work.

Thanks for the tip.  I was actually wanting to find a way to edit the code to add a new button graphic to the control panel homepage that perhaps says “Add an event”, so my client could simply click the button to be directed the desired page.

    Thanks again.

If you can live without a “button” and use a standard “tab” then you can accomplish what you are describing using the approach I outlined.  Here is an even quicker way to do it:

    1) Go to the publish form for the weblog you want to create an “Add an event” button (tab) for
    2) Click the “new tab” link in the upper right hand corner of your screen.  This will effectively create a tab that you can label as desired, that when clicked will take the client straight to the publish form for the given weblog.

Quick q - how can I add tabs that will be STANDARD for all new members that I add? I’ve been adding some & when I just created a new user they weren’t available.

    Thanks,
    Chuck

I haven’t tried it, but it looks like LG Add CP (Control Panel) Tabs would be just the ticket.

Dude, what I love about ExpressionEngine so far is one really big thing - SUPER FAST replies in the forums. God bless you all.

That extension was perfect. I’m making it part of my standard installs now.

    Thanks!
    Chuck
