Hey everyone - is something like this possible with Expression Engine? To display a certain window of information whenever a particular word is used in a content area? I work for a school and all of our teachers have a great bio page and i would love for whenever their name is mentioned - for it to automatically make a link and display their info in a rollover popup box that i could create…

Similar to this site below - how whenever you roll over certain words… it displays the info…. (example - “Infant Seat” or “RF”)

Check out the Acronym Module from Solspace.com.

Thanks - that is nice… but not nearly as “pretty” as the sample from the site i listed first… i installed this module in our “News” section…just to see how it looks/functionality… not bad… but it can’t display pictures and offers no formatting….

dfranzo - you can easily combine this with something prettier to style it up.  All this gives you is the basic architecture to give meaning to commonly used words.  Just like with the rest of the template system in EE, it is up to you to style it how you prefer.  jQuery and other scripting tools have many very good tooltip plugins that can help you out there.

“jQuery and other scripting tools have many very good tooltip plugins that can help you out there” - Thank you so much for getting back so quick…. but i am confused here… how would i go about formatting it using… which files would i edit/how… thank you!—- the module contains 3 files… index.html, mcp.acronym.php, and mod.acronyme.php

    Thanks again!

Hi, dfranzo - you would still use the Acronym Module as is; but you would use javascript to style the tooltips to your satisfaction.  I’d recommend “getting started with jquery”  and “jquery tooltips”  to get started.
