    Hi,
following this how-to http://expressionengine.com/docs/installation/update.html I am trying to upgrade the stage server to 1.6.8. I have successfully copied all the necessary files onto the webserver (except path.php and config.php) and have pointed the browser to http://myserver/system/update.php. EE seems to go through all the steps and I have optimized the tables at the end. Then I delete the update.php and the update folder and go to my backend. Now the line at the bottom tells me that I am still running 1.6.6. I have done this three times now and it always results in the same problem. Is there any way to find out what is going wrong?

    warm regards

    Hi Sue,
thank you for your reply unfortunately that did not work. I even set the config.php to 777 with the same result.

juro, it should be set to 666. Are you on a Windows server, by any chance?

Yes, I know it shoudl be 666 but 777 is less restrictive, so if the problem would have been access, I could have solved it. Unfortunately it didn’t work. This is PHP 5.2 running on a Linux machine.

The interesting part is that is I point the browser to http://myserver/system/update.php, it tells me that the site is running 1.6.8. Going to http://myserver/system/index.php (where system is the EE system folder), the version number is 1.6.6

Please ignore this thread ... my fault, I was uploading the whole package including the folder structure, so I didn’t put the system files in my system folder *lookingsheepish*

No worries! Glad you were able to figure out what the problem was. Don’t hesitate to post again as needed.
