I have created two weblogs on my site and now I’m thinking that is maybe not the way I want to go. One of the weblogs uses the Default Field Group while the other contains one custom field. What would be the best way to convert the weblog with the custom field to one that uses the default field group without losing all of the data? If that makes any sense.

I’m taking it you set up the custom field in a separate group? All of my custom fields are in the default group so while my first thought was to suggest simultaneously setting both weblogs to use both field groups, I can’t even test to see if that’s possible. Category groups, on the other hand… But that’s no help to you.

I have a suggestion but it’s risky and I don’t know if it would work—and someone else who knows more may have a low-risk answer to solve your problem.

Are the two field groups the same except for one custom field? Why not add the same custom field (whether used or not) to the Default Field Group, and then run multiple weblogs?

I’ve done that on a site where I didn’t want to mess with moving a bunch of content.
