Ok this is weird, and it’s the first time it’s happened to me. I’ve made heaps of EE sites.

Basically the any page I try to load on my live site is redirecting to the home/index template because it’s can’t find the target template. But when I turned on template debugging I noticed what it’s trying to find is different between live and local….

This is my local template output snippet

    (0.000010) - Begin Template Processing -
    (0.000209) URI: /catalog/girls/
    (0.000217) Path.php Template: /
    (0.000234) Retrieving Template
    (0.000243) Parsing Template URI
(0.002504) Retrieving Template from Database: catalog/index

This is my live template output snippet

    (0.000008) - Begin Template Processing -
    (0.000109) URI: /q=catalog/girls/
    (0.000116) Path.php Template: /
    (0.000125) Retrieving Template
    (0.000133) Parsing Template URI
(0.002852) Showing index. Template not found: q=catalog

    wtf is

    URI: /q=catalog/girls/

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

What is different between the two sites?

Everything is the same settings and files wise. The sites are exactly the same.

I’ve just finished local development, uploaded site files, imported my DB, made changes to the general settings to reflect my live environment and now when I try to navigate around the site it always pushes me back to the home page….

This is the page -> http://dev.groovykids.com.au/

(click around and you’ll see) 😊

It’s like EE is running in query mode of something on my live site. Why would the template output be different?

I should note, the admin is working fine.

That sort of helps… sort of.

    - However I’m uploading the site to my managed box which I have dozens of EE site running fine without ‘force query strings’ and with index.php removed.
    - Also the one you said ‘works’ isn’t quite right becuse the database is returning anything 😊 so I think there’s more going on here.

I’m going to try a few things. Will let you know how I go.

Ok I think I have to talk to my server admin.

I’ve just done a fresh install on the box and the default site doesn’t even work as expected…

    doesn’t work http://dev.groovykids.com.au/index.php/site/about/

    works http://dev.groovykids.com.au/index.php?/site/about/

    Must be that PATH_INFO stuff…
