Please replace your EE files, make sure to be on the very latest build. I would like to rule out a corrupted file as the possible culprit.

What “language files” are we talking about? A language pack? Which one? Are you using the MSM, or the forum module? If so, are they on the very latest build as well?

Just merged the threads, no worries 😊

I have updated both the Swedish and English language packs to the latest. (But I use English in my control panel, so the Swedish files are not used when creating the site.)
I use MSM when I get the error message.
(I have the forum module installed as well, but that one works as expected.)

Just to repeat, the forum module and the MSM are on the latest build as well? Also, can you please try to remove Swedish language pack for testing? In a word, I’d like you to use a stock install of EE without any addons or modifications. If that works, we can take it from there.

I know where the problem is now.
The Swedish language pack is version 1.6.6 (the latest available).
So I deleted the Swedish language pack and recieved a new error message:
Something about a file missing.
So I duplicated the English language pack and renamed it to Swedish and now it works.
So, how come the MSM uses the Swedish language pack when my account settings are set to English?
I guess I have to translate what is missing in my Swedish version to upgrade it to 1.6.7.
Or do you have an idea what file would cause the error?

An issue with the Language Pack, I see.
So, how come the MSM uses the Swedish language pack when my account settings are set to English?
I am sure some of your users are using it, even if you use the English one for your CP.
I guess I have to translate what is missing in my Swedish version to upgrade it to 1.6.7.
Yes, that sounds like the way to go.
