Recently I’ve been unable to send emails via contact forms or the Communicate tab in EE. I have debugging on and recieve this message:

    Debugging Message
220 auth.smtp.oneandone.co.uk (mreu0) Welcome to Nemesis ESMTP server

    hello:

    Failed to Send Command. Error:
Failed to send AUTH LOGIN command. Error:

from: 421 auth.smtp.oneandone.co.uk connection timed out

Failed to Send Command. Error: 421 auth.smtp.oneandone.co.uk connection timed out

    to:

    Failed to Send Command. Error:

    data:

    Failed to Send Command. Error:

Failed to send SMTP email. Error:
Unable to send email using SMTP

The odd thing is that auth.smtp.oneandone.co.uk isn’t the correct server, which would explain the error. I have it in my email settings as auth.smtp.1and1.co.uk. I’ve even searched the database for some other place where it may be recorded incorrectly.

Is there, perhaps, a config file somewhere I’ve missed?

Something cached somewhere? Where? And how?

I clearly have the world’s worst memory. I found an identical issue, filed more than a year ago, by my very own self.

Apparently I have been spam-blocked again by spamhous.

For the removal of doubt, we’re not spammers, but are trying only to email our own customers - we just have a lot of them. Clearly this is frowned upon.

    *sigh*

oh what a drag.  You might want to check to make sure people you are hosting on the server aren’t getting your server blacklisted as well.

Even though it’s bad news, I’m glad you have found out what is going on.  Please don’t hesitate to start a new thread if anything else comes up!

    Regards,
