Windows server sql-mode settings question

    Hello,

Some quick background:  I have a client running EE on a Windows server and it has been running along fine until they rebooted with all kinds of sql-mode options enabled tanking EE. I was able to run a query in phpMyAdmin to set the mode to nothing (msql_mode = “”) and everything is running fine again. I know from the requirements page and other forum posts that EE won’t run in “strict” mode but I don’t fully understand enough to give them a proper answer.

They said their startup settings were: ANSI, NO_AUTO_CREATE_USER, NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION. I *think* ANSI and all of the quote/concat stuff that turns on was the problem, but was asked for a definitive answer on what it should be set to. (They seem determined that there “needs” to be a mode set).

So my question is, can you please clarify what exactly the sql-mode should be set to for EE?

    Thanks!

ANSI is definitely not a good idea. That said, unfortunatley we cannot offer much assistance in administering a db server. By default, no special server SQL modes are enabled, and EE should work fine with those settings.

Thanks Ingmar. I just needed something to point them to for the mode since I was in over my head. I think the Windows installer defaults differently so they weren’t sure, but this makes perfect sense and I’ll ask them to keep it with nothing enabled then.
