Start with EE or not?

I have read that EE is not intended for folks who have not developed a web site previously.

So my question is, which of the following is better?

    1. Forget about EE right now, go get a true beginner’s CMS, set up one or more web sites, and then possibly return to EE at some point in the future.

    2. Purchase the Personal edition, go through the travails and time of learning EE.

I would think that this is an impossible question to answer with certainty because you don’t know me, etc., but I’m interested in your thoughts.

    Thanks.

Hi, forsooth - the main thing here is that you will likely want HTML and CSS knowledge in order to build the look and feel of your site. ExpressionEngine leaves that up to you.

You can use ExpressionEngine with a WYSIWYG editor like Dreamweaver by saving templates as files.

What I’d recommend, however, is installing EECore and giving it a shot - see what your comfort level is and choose from there.
