Can I have multiple versions of ExpressionEngine running on a single domain with just once license? It’s “kinda complicated”, but I want to create different “areas” for different groups of members, each with it’s own theme, etc. I’m willing to pay the Multi-Site Control Panel fee (or whatever the heck it’s called) so I can manage the different sections from just one control panel, but I wouldn’t need separate EE licenses for each install would I?

    Hi, Oaven -

If you own all of those installations, then the MSM would be a great fit.  That said, you may not need the MSM you could likely pull this off with weblogs and templates.  Have you delved into EE to map out what you need?

I haven’t yet Lisa, no. Thanks for the heads up. And yes, I’d own all the different installations on the same domain - so I take it multiple licenses wouldn’t be needed?

But of course, if I’m simply using multiple blogs, that problem would go away altogether. I think I’ll just buy EE and get my team having a mess about in it - we’ll figure it out. 😉

    Thanks for the friendly advice!

ExpressionEngine, the MSM, and a few Additional Sites should cover you.

But yes, I’d recommend starting with EE itself, you can also look at some of the trial options =)
