EE and Member Module - Can it do this or am I just wacko?

Ok this is my second question for the pre-sales forum.  Everyday I find myself loving EE more and more, as a true CMS application.  My question, is this:

I know that the member module is able to do all sorts of things such as uploading photos, sharing information with others, PM, etc…  what my client is needing is the ability for its members to post laptimes of their races.  This is going to be a motor cross website and along with just posting times, be able to view laptimes by track location, view specific member laptimes, laptimes by date, etc..

Is this something that can be customized within EE to handle, or am I just crazy and thinking out of the box 😛

    Thanks!

Hi, dveiga - I think with this you’d be better off to use the weblog module to hold lap times rather than the member module.  Then you could have each entry be a session or race, or whatever it is, with laptimes held in custom fields and therefore searchable.

So yes - doable, but the way you are going at it, I don’t think would be ideal.

    Hope that helps!

Ok so the laptimes can be held within custom fields depending on location, racer, best time, etc etc…. but what about having a visitor to the site be able to view all the times within a table and sort them based on a query?  I found this jquery tablesorter script which will be PERFECT, but not sure if based on how it’s inputted in EE it can be passed through to the table.

Sure, you can do that.  Check out Entries in Table.

At this point, are you working with this to set it up?  If so I’ll move this down to how-to as it’s no longer really pre-sales. =)
