Anyone done any screencasting? I just downloaded Screenium for the Mac and I love it! It’s a good price and does everything you need to record the screen on your computer.

I use it for demos of my Halogy software, check them out: http://www.haloweb.co.uk/blog/category/videos/

I am finding this is a very good way of showing your clients your software in action, and you could even build a whole FAQ library of videos and they say so much more than text can in most cases.

    People’s experiences??

    Thanks

    Hey!

First of all I’d like to say I enjoyed your site. Your CMS seems cool!

I personally use Screenflow for the Mac. It costs $99 (or something like that) and has AWESOME quality.
It also has the option to record from the built-in iSight and add that to the desktop video.

I really liked a program called Jing too… It’s much simpler but awesome if you wanna explain something visually for some over Messenger or something. http://www.jingproject.com
It come in two flavours (one tasty and one uneatable, ie. OSX and Win-versions).

    Cool thanks!

I struggle with the problem that I am a bit of a ‘techy’ and there is nothing I can do about that, but I want to produce videos that my client will understand. One option is to get a professional actor or actress in to do the Screencasts but then they will lose their life and energy.

I did think of overlaying my face on the video but I thought - I’m trying to sell my services not put people off!! 😊

I bet ALOT of people in our occupation struggles with being too “techy” 😊

One cool thing I did for a project was that I “taped” some people with Screenflow actually using the site to discover where the useability flaws where. It was really cool seeing their face when they faced given tasks.
Just because I’m kindof sadistic I threw in some stuff that did’nt work properly and enjoyed their frustation! 😊

Seriously speaking, I learned alot during that day!

    Very cool!

I personally learn alot of new things from watching others do stuff…
Some of the coolest stuff in my projects is inspired from watching screencasts.

Post a link when you got them going!
