    Hi guys, great framework, I tried to use it in the past, but for work reasons I had to left the learning curve, now Im facing with a new job that requires me to learn it again, I will need app´s that have a layout mostly build on forms that people introduce information and after that i need to get all the information on clean pages (tabular data processed but the database) to review to my client

    I have noticed that are a few new books on the market, and I would like to ask to you guys what is the one you think is better o go from novice to almost professional with codeigniter, the last time I used codeigniter I bought the one for packt publishing it was the only one available at the time , but now that are a few more and probably more robust.

    Can someone point me to the “right” one please, thanks

    If you’re willing to wait for CodeIgniter 2 (a couple of months), I’ve got a great book coming out being published by Apress. It’s called Practical CodeIgniter 2 Projects, and it’s written for people just like you - who understand the basics and are looking to improve their skills. It’s written with a very hands-on approach, guiding you quickly and easily through building a few applications.

    Anyway, check it out on Amazon, where it’s ready to pre-order.

    @Jamie

    will this be based on the 2.0 of CI or is this a second edition of the book?

    If CI 2 is a part of EE 2 i don’t think anyone outside EL has seen it yet because in this blogpost Leslie Camacho writes:

    The internal alpha is the next “big phase”. Once we hit that, it’ll be time to get excited as that is one step removed from the first Developer Preview.

    So i’m very sceptical too about Jamie Rumbelow’s claim to write a book for CI 2.

    How is Jamie able to write a book about a framework that is not released yet? Like what’s up with that?

    To improve sales, I would remove all references to Web 2.0 in the blurb (there are 3 counted in passing). That buzzword is like white noise today. Only newbies are confused enough to buy something with the feverish pitch of a second dot-com boom, and those do not exactly fit your stated demographic. People who understand the basics also understand that XHR does not exactly upgrade the Web one less HTTP refresh at a time.
