Hide some categories in the publish form, so only admins can use them?

In the publish form, we want to hide some category groups from some member groups.

I don’t see a setting in the categories admin panel for this. Is there a way (in a SAEF) to restrict the availability of a category group or categories depending on the user group?

I think you’ll have to hardcode this into the SAEF. Have a look at this Solspace plugin that has a few extra options to use categories in an SAEF.

Also have a look at Category menu and the category parameter.

Thanks, e-man! It looks like the Form helper plugin will give me ways to specify which categories to show, and I expect that I can wrap category select fields inside of conditionals that check member group ID.
