Is it possible to switch off Tag Caching by one click?

I have a tons of templates, and of course many tags inside the templates. Very often I used cache parameter here.

Actually, I think my site is much faster without these. Because when I clear the cache it’s a different level of speed. Normally after a week I have 10.000 folders in the tag cache directory. Including average 7 files. This kills my shared hosting.

But that’s only my idea. I’d like to test the site without this caching, and without changing all the templates. (I have cache tag in 141 files, with 221 occurrence.) So it would be perfect to test this without so many modifications.

Is there any way, or any option?
If not, is it possible to send this question as a feature request?

You could just run the tag changes through the Find/Replace utility.

I can manage the tag replace by any editor utility, but I’d like to have a switch for that. It’s not so good to change so many files, just for a test. I’d like to do it by EE, and not manually. If You mean find/replace runtime, I think it will also kill some cpu time, so my test will be not adequate.

You could possibly use a Fresh Variable to specify the cache settings - so could then change them all by changing the Fresh Variable contents.

That’s a *ton* of tags though - even my largest site doesn’t begin to approach those numbers.  Makes me wonder if there aren’t other opportunities to make the site more efficient.

I’ve started to develop the site at the very beginning, when I miss such possibilities as embedding, and much more. It’s a project with 4 languages. The localization is done by myself using php, and with snippets ({exp:snippets template="lang/main"}{/exp:snippets}). But some of the old templates are copied 4 times, because when caching, I could not use dynamic 4 languages. So, it’s historical. I really do not have time to rebuild the whole site. And maybe there’s no better way to manage some things. I had many many thing to do manually, because of the lack of features. For example, yesterday I had to do prev/next entry tag manually for the gallery, as I noticed, that there’s a bug, and the prev/next tag don’t care about the ordering, it just iterates in a random order, so it was hard to manage the calculation of “x OF y” image. I have not total 22 template groups and 428 templates, with really huge functionality on the site.

I think I will chose the changing of all files, for a try.

Just it would be nice to have an option in EE, like for SQL caching, etc.
