Hi, I’m currently running the Simple Commerce module. I’ve been asked if a logged in user can have a different item price to a non-logged in user.

So I’m thinking is the best way to do this is with some conditional code that lets the logged in user see the item sale price and a non-logged in user see the normal price but is this possible? If not, has anybody firstly, come up against this sort of problem and secondly, managed to solve it!

    Hi Steve,

You could do this yes but I would first of all ask what are you using the Simple Commerce Module (SCM) for exactly?

If you aren’t going to be using the SCM to tell what someone has purchased then no problem. The problem would arise if you need to know from within ExpressionEngine what a person has ordered as this will not happen if the person hasn’t registered on the site.

All depends really on what your end goal is though?

As to the different costs you could probably just make use of the normal price field and the sale price field and show one to the Logged-In users and one to the Logged-Out users if that’s what you need to do.

    Hope that helps a bit.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

    Hi Mark,

Thanks for the speedy response. No, no need to store and purchase data in EE - the client uses PayPal’s UI to get that info.

Great, I’ll give this a go and see how I get on!

    Thanks,

    Steve
