Have you all been keeping up with all of the various stuff going on with Wordpress and Joomla and their fights to keep their communities in line with the GPL licensing that their product bears? Geesh. I have never been as happy as I am at this moment that I have EE. THANK YOU ELLISLAB!!!! Anyway, I just read that Matt took all non GPL themes out of the wordpress themes library including any themes that were being used as bait for paid themes. And after 18 months of not hearing a whole lot on the Joomla front and their issues with GPL 3rd party devs I am now starting to hear news of them revamping their efforts. Both camps have stated that even the use of their trademarked name in a domain has to be approved… I can’t wait to see what happens. I feel like I am watching a car wreck in slow motion….

Well I always thought that Joomla and WordPress already were a car wreck and perhaps we were watching it backwards, perhaps they were unfolding the mess? 😉

Personally I wish both teams and their respective communities the best. I hope neither endures a “car wreck” and that things are worked out for everyone. The truth is that if WP & Joomla do well, we do well. The healthier the blog & CMS market is, the better it is for web professionals and therefore the EllisLab Community.
