hi, i have a very similar problem. i was trying to move my EE site from one server to another. It’s running EE 1.67. I got the theme and template to load, but none of the images that got uploaded for a photo slider and none of the content load. Plus, i can’t log in to the control panel. It took the username and password without throwing an error, but it gives me a blank page.
    Please HELP!

additional info: after i get a blank page for my admin log in, i get this error from my homepage:
    “MySQL ERROR:

    Error Number: 1064

Description: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘ORDER BY `title` ASC’ at line 1

Query: SELECT * FROM ORDER BY `title` ASC”

    Hi spokane misweb,

I am sorry for your trouble after the server move.

ExpressionEngine 1.6.7 is pretty old, so it may not be viable on more recent releases of PHP/MySQL - however, check the Wiki article on Moving ExpressionEngine 1 to Another Server to make sure you have covered all the bases.

Once you are up and running, I suggest an update to 1.7.3

If you still need help after the Wiki, please let me know!

    Cheers,

so i looked in the server error logs and found out that because i am running php 5.3.3, it was spit out a few errors about “ereg() and eregi()” deprecated. I managed to replace those with “preg_match” and no more error. but there is still a warning “Warning: Parameter 2 to Extensions::universal_call_extension() expected to be a reference, value given in core/core.extensions.php on line 120”. The admin page is still BLANK.
I am really STUCK! waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa :(

i can’t move the website over to the new server as is (version 1.6.7)
i can’t see the admin page
I can’t upgrade upgrad to version 1.7 yet cuz the current is not working yet.

I CAN install a fresh 2.53 version of EE and the test site works fine, but i can’t import data from the real website over.

    Any help would be appreciated!!!!

Just posting a note here to let onlookers know that we’re working with spokane misweb privately on this for the time being. I’ll post an update back here once we have something to share!

The problem here was simply solved by updating to the latest version EE 1 so that incompatibilities with newer server software (in this case, PHP 5.3) wouldn’t raise their ugly heads.
