    Dear EE Community!

I’d like to upgrade my site to EE 2, but before I’ll do it I wanted to test the procedure locally. I tried to move the site as suggested but there was always problems. Then just to be sure I tried to install a clean 1.7.0 to see what happens. And it doesn’t succesfully, too.
I tried everything, but I got always the message:

Error: Unable to perform the SQL queries needed to install this program. Please make sure your MySQL account has the proper GRANT privileges: CREATE, DROP, ALTER, INSERT, and DELETE

I downloaded the database wizard app which runs succesfully and says you can install, everything is ok.

Here you can read the MAMP components’ versions:

    Peter,
Just concentrating on the error at hand, can you log into your phpMyAdmin please.
Click on Privileges and look for your user in the table on the next screen. What does it say under the Global Privileges column. Click the edit privileges to see what that user can actually do.

    John,

The user has grant accsess. All privilegs is checked.
EE 2 could be installed with this user.

Hi, PeterD. Are you attempting this with the default root user? I always use that user when working with EE and MAMP.

    Hi Sue
I have the MAMP installed. When I could not install EE 1.7, then I could install EE 2 without problems. I use the same root user. And of course a separate table in the database. I am able to run succesful the database wizard with the root user. But EE 1.7 always report the error above mentioned.

Now I step back to MAMP 1.9.4 and give a try there.

My idea is that mysql is 5.5.9 in MAMP 1.9.5 and only 5.1.44 in MAMP 1.9.4.

Don’t you think it can be the problem?

    Hi Sue,
I stepped back to MAMP 1.9.4 and EE 1.70 intalled as a snap. So there is something in 1.9.5 and my tip is the very new mysql version.
I use this now, but I think you should check it!

Thanks for the feedback, Peter. Glad things are working again, and I’ll point this out to our testing team. Feel free to start a new thread if you have any more questions.
