    I am trying to figure out the best way to do this. I have a form with about 70 fields (around 20 textfields) that my client would like people to fill out. Solspace recommended that I not use Freeform for this purpose. I am thinking of using Safecracker. User’s don’t need to login to fill it out. I realize there might be problems with submitting such a long form, browser crashing, angry users. Trying to avoid that.

    Has anyone every made a form where you save it along the way?

    Anyone have any other ideas about the best way to go about this?

    I agree, Freeform is not a good fit for this.
    I haven’t used Safecracker yet, but it’s definitely what I’ll be using on my next long-form project, along with some jQuery (ValidationEngine) to make it a bit more manageable for the user.

    I’ve done multi-page entry forms with SafeCracker, you have to take advantage of the ENTRY_ID redirection:

    page1

    {exp:safecracker channel="whatever" return="site/page2/ENTRY_ID"}
    etc.
    {/exp:safecracker}

    page2

    {exp:safecracker channel="whatever" entry_id="{segment_3}" return="site/page3/ENTRY_ID"}
    etc.
    {/exp:safecracker}

    And so forth. But, I would caution against doing this with guests, because any visitor to that url would have edit access.

    Thanks for pointing me in the direction of the entry_id redirection. I was looking for something like that. I think we will have to go in the direction of creating members. Thanks Rob, you are so darn helpful!
