This is a new site that I developed using EE 1.6.9

Fairly standard installation with a few extensions to simplify content entry for the client:

    Category Checkboxes
    LG TinyMCE
    LG ImageManager
    LG FileManager
    Moxiecode Authentication

    Comments welcome,

    Darell,

I really like your design. A lot, actually. 😊

I’m not too keen on the three colours on the homepage’s focus point, but I understand that they’re there to stand out. The rest of the colours are superb. I love the combo of brown/beige with dark grey/black. Elegant. The information structure is also sweet.

The only thing I don’t like is the search box. Everything is wonderful on the site but the search box looks like it was an afterthought. At least it hasn’t received the same level of attention to detail as the other elements. And a final complaint (well, not really a complaint) is the breadcrumb trail. It’s not intuitive to me to see the first and second level items to be separated by an ellipsis instead of an arrow. But that might be due to what my eyes are used to.

Other than that, it’s a fantastic design. 😊

Very nice design, if I had to pick anything to crit it would be the same as maleika - the search box and the breadcrumbs. I like it though!

Darell, great site well done. No footer information - copyright, other links or colophon type content - on the site,  I would be interested to know the thought process and decision behind that.

    Hi All,

Apologies for taking a while to get back to you.

Thanks for the comments - much appreciated. Regarding the design issues raised - I was the developer on the site but the site design was by Tangent a local design agency.

I would agree with the point about the submit button. It doesn’t really fit in with the design, and given a bit more work would look much better. In the designers’ defence I should point out that the site was designed and developed to a very tight deadline!

    Darrell
