I am not sure if it’s a bug, but sure it’s a little odd:
After testing to install with a core download of version 4.0.1, I’ve immediately noticed the version check in the footer of the admin area indicating in red color that it’s outdated.
So I’ve checked and it told me that v4.0.1 is installed but that there is an update available to v4.0.1 😊
out of curiosity I’ve tested the built in update mechanism, and it successfully updated to the “same version”… screenshot for proof:
