Search Module disappeared

Version: 3.5.11 Reporter: cesarhcastrojr

Just realized that my search module is gone. Never realized it before as I hadn’t needed it.

  • What do you mean gone? What errors are you getting?

  • I have no access to the Search Plugin - screenshot of my plugins https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B627rm8ByoOjU0NFYWJHOVZxS28/view?usp=sharing

  • It’s not an installable module, it’s a built-in component and has nothing for the control panel except the Search Logs. Is there functionality that is not working? Error messages?

  • What did you try, what did you expect to happen, what actually happened? If you have any error messages please cut and paste them. We can’t help you without knowing what is happening.

  • Neither the Advance or the Simple Search Form Tags are displaying the form but simply showing the opening and closing expressions …

    {exp:search:advanced_form result_page=”search/results”}{/exp:search:advanced_form} {exp:search:simple_form channel=”posts”}{/exp:search:simple_form}

  • That’s very strange, if it wasn’t going to parse them (missing files, not installed, etc.) you would get a template error rather than rendering the tags.

    • Are you on Core or the full version?
    • Check that the folder and files are intact on the server for system/ee/EllisLab/Addons/search/*
    • Check the exp_modules table in your database for a record with the module_name of “Search”

  • although now I’m getting:

    The following errors were encountered

You did not submit a search term

    Return to Previous Page

  • Correct, template variables are for static content. If you’re looking for reusable dynamic partials to keep your development DRY, you can use template partials. Please see the docs on template variables for more details.

    > You did not submit a search term

I’ve seen this occur sometimes when the server has a .htaccess redirect, which typically do not pass along POST data.

The bug tracker is not a suitable venue to provide guidance with using the software, just for reproducible bugs. At this point I would suggest submitting a support ticket, or seeking community assistance in the official Slack channel.

  • Glad you got it figured out! Slack is still a highly recommended resource for learning, bouncing ideas off of others, etc.
