Bug #23252 Clarification Requested

text area field type shows file upload icon even when file chooser is unchecked

Version: 3.5.11 Reporter: Bill the Grue

This is an archived bug report. If you are experiencing a similar issue, upgrade to the latest release and if that does not solve the problem, submit a new bug report

So I’m not 100% sure this is a bug, but it is a little weird. I understand the default html buttons include a file upload icon. But this doesn’t make sense if I uncheck the file upload option when I’m creating a textarea field and uncheck file chooser

To reproduce:

  1. create a new field group
  2. create a new textarea field
  3. make sure the following groups at the bottom of the page are checked:

[ x ] Show Formatting Buttons [ x ] Show Smileys [ ] Show File Chooser

When you create a new entry you will see a file upload icon.

Thank you for everything you do, and keep the updates coming!

  • Hi Bill,

Just so I’m clear, the file chooser doesn’t show under the textarea, but it is still included in the buttons- correct?

If so, that would be expected because those are meant to operate independently - you might want it in one spot and not the other.

But if I’m misunderstanding, just let me know and I can revisit it.

And we will definitely keep the updates coming. Once v4 is released, they’ll be even easier to do!

  • Hello Robin,

Thank you for replying. Your reflection is correct. It strikes me as kind of odd that if I turn off file chooser, it is still an option in the default HTML buttons.

To be honest, this is a minor issue, and it’s something that can be turned off in moments. It struck me as a bit weird which is why I reported it. I do appreciate your reply
