Bug #23235 Bug Fixed

‘View rendered’ error

Version: 3.5.11 Reporter: Peter Stalker

When editing a template and using ‘view rendered’ I get this type of message: “Warning: You’re opening a new web page (http://www.jerichocentre.org.uk/home) that is not part of Jericho Online. Double check that the web page address is correct. Would you like to Continue to the new page or Stay put?”

If I use the link to Continue to the new page it does render correctly.

I have one site still on 3.5.6 where this still works as expected. But for sites on 3.5.10 or 3.5.11 it gives the warning.

  • Hey Peter, sorry you’ve having difficulties. Please reach out to support or use the contact us link below. This warning is intentional, you are likely seeing it due to a site URL mismatch or some other environmental issue. It prevents malicious parties from being able to use your redirection URLs as part of a phishing attack.

  • Strange. This is happening on three mature sites, and the problems only seemed to surface after updates. Two other sites still on earlier EE versions are working. I thought this looked similar to bug #23218, but apparently not. Oh well, maybe I need to invest in support……..

  • You’re seeing this behavior due to the improvement in security I mentioned. Does your control panel run on a different URL than your front-end by chance? Or do you have force_redirect enabled in your config files?

  • Thanks, I did take a look around my configurations, but could see nothing amiss The front end is: http://www.jerichocentre.org.uk/ and the control panel is: http://www.jerichocentre.org.uk/admin.php?/cp/homepage Not sure which config files would have force_redirect in them, but not in my php.ini

  • It looks like it may be an issue with the information available to the _SERVER global in your environment. We’d be happy to take a look for you directly on your server to troubleshoot, but that would require support. Keep in mind that every license holder is entitled to three months of direct support from our engineers for free, and is reflected in your cart at checkout.

  • Thanks Derek. Yes, I understand the support system. I’m on a shared server, so may not have access to this in any case. But I will probably try this via support.

  • Hi Derek, I have the same issue displaying a warning message whenever i clicked a link in the backend. And I am developing on a local server. “Warning: You’re opening a new web page (https://expressionengine.com/blog/expressionengine-3.5.12-released) that is not part of Network of Christian Scholars. Double check that the web page address is correct.

Would you like to Continue to the new page or Stay put?”

  • What version are you currently running chunkitchris? And is the control panel URL on your local machine 100% identical to the front end URL in the redirect link?
