Bug #23063 See Comments

restrict_channel parameter doesn’t work

Version: 3.5.4 Reporter: bronskiy

{exp:channel:categories show_empty="yes" restrict_channel="no" disable="category_fields" style="linear"}

shows only categories in category groups that assigned to any channel

  • Please see the user guide for the behavior of the restrict_channel= parameter:

    This parameter may be used to alter the behavior of the show_empty parameter and has no effect unless that parameter is set to not show empty categories.

    In order for that parameter to have any effect, you must also be using show_empty="no".

  • I’ve confirmed it is working for me on a fresh installation using show_empty="no" restrict_channel="no". I have two Channels both using the same category group, and it is only displaying categories that have no entries in either channel.

    If you’re not seeing this, please describe in greater detail how you have your channels and categories configured, what you are expecting to see, and what you are seeing instead.

  • I tried to use category group that not assigned to any channel and haven’t any entries.

    Now I’ve added it to channel and hide category tab. So now I can use channel and empty categories almost separately. So if it is not bug you can close it.

  • Yep that sounds right, bronskiy, it does need to be assigned to a channel. Have a great night!
