When I’m in Layout edit mode and tried to move a field up, upon clicking the hamburger icon, a bunch of whitespace expanded under it. After releasing it I say it at the complete bottom of the web page, under the EE CP area, looking erroneous.
I ended up deleting that field, then adding a new one with a shorter short name. The displayed name was the same. This worked. It may be that this happens when you hit the limit of the short name with a field, then try and move it in layout mode.
