Channel form is ignoring any custom status set while posting for the first time.
The following tag does not set the status to Featured, instead it sets it to Open.
{exp:channel:form channel=”news” return=”members/thank_you/posted/” status=”Featured” }
The status group has been assigned to the channel. The Channel Form setting for the ‘news’ channel is set to – Use Channel Default – Changing the case to ‘featured’ above was also unsuccessful.
