After creating a custom Text Input field, and setting the default text input to “none†and saving changes, the formatting would remain as XHTML, which breaks layout by inserting tags around text. This was repeated numerous times and formatting would always stay as XHTML.
If the field type is changed to textarea, the default formatting change works. A workaround seems to be to change the max character length of text input to a number other than 128, and then setting default text formatting to “none†and saving. After this, the character length can be returned to 128 and the changes will stick.
