At the start of the project we upgraded ExpressionEngine to 2.9.2 and upgraded all the plugins. We then completely re-built all the templates using our new responsive design. We also moved the site’s hosting to Nexcess which has also improved the reliability and performance. It’s worth mentioning that we had good support from the Nexcess staff. \

We were commisioned by Rubik’s Brand Limited to re-design and develop their existing ExpressionEngine site. Their main concerns were that their existing site wasn’t responsive and it’s design didn’t match their brand. The site is quite large and is targeted at a world-wide audience. To this end it uses a combination of IP2Nation and Multi Site Manager to serve up slightly different versions of the site for North America, Europe and the UK. It also uses Multi Site Manager to ensure that currencies on the Expresso Store shop are appropriate for the geographical location of the visitor (US Dollars, Eurors or GB Pounds). The site uses Transcribe so that pages in alternate languages can be displayed (we have just started that part of the project)

As a major world wide brand the site’s visitor rate is high and we’ve all been pleased with how it has performed so far.

The project took around 7 months to complete from initial planning stages to live and Rubik’s were pleased with how smooth the transition was with almost no break in the availability between old and new sites and minimal issues and snags after go live.
