I’ve been setting up our community’s new website, and hit a kinda big problem with the wiki. Basicly, I’m wondering how to make it so that users can enter a title and url separatly. Right now it works like this:
At the “new page” box, you enter a title.. let’s say you enter “water”. The wiki article will then get the title “water”, and the url will be /wiki/water/
This screws up when people write about water in different categories. Our setup is like this: http://www.timespin.net/spillmodding/wiki/Special:Categories
A user writes about water in, say, valve hammer editor source, and puts it in that category. If another user wants to write about water for the unreal editor, he will be directed to the water guide for source, since it took the url first, so the user would have to be creative with the title, something like “water in unreal editor”.. which is ok, but a bit silly if your browsing the unreal editor category and all the articles end with “in unreal editor” or something like that.. And it also looks silly when you get titles like “Entity List Valve Hammer Editor Source”.. As an URL, its good, but as a title, it just looks silly.
So I was wondering, is there any way to separate URL from title, so users can write both (like when you publish an entry in a weblog), do I have to set up pages manually, linking to each article just to make it look a little prettier.. or some other way I haven’t thought about?
Also, how do I allow .rar files in uploads? 🐍
