Language file problems in forums

    Hi,

I’ve got an odd problem (cue stupid, but still funny jokes about seeing a doctor etc)...

For reasons I won’t go into I need to run two forum boards through templates. So, in each board prefs I’ve removed the trigger word and defined the URL for each as segment_1 words respectively. Each template index (in groups named the same as the segment_1 words above) then just contains {exp:forum}. When I add one board in this way then the forum is rendered correctly although oddly it seems as if it’s not running through the full template parser since EE comments are rendered to the browser. If I add another board then neither board works correctly the {lang:whatever} constructs are not parsed, just output to the screen.

It’s entirely possible that this is in fact not supposed to work and I’m imagining that I’ve done this before.

If you have actually managed to do this please let me know how you did it 😊

In the meantime I’m gonna top up on tea and nicotine and hope that my brain kicks into gear sometime in the next 100 years or so…

    Cheers

    Dry

P.S. Both EE and Forum are latest versions/builds

Hm.  Sounds very, very odd.  Is it possible to link to the two forums in action?

    Hi Rob,

No it isn’t I’m afraid but I can give you SA access if you want?

    Cheers

As a test, can you confirm that this works if you do implement and use the forum trigger word? I’d like to isolate where this is happening.

Also, what version and build of both EE and the forums are you on?  Numbers, please. =)

    Hi Lisa,

Builds are EE 1.6.2 20080129 and Forum 2.0.0 20080125. And yes, they do work fine if I use the trigger words.

    Cheers

Alright, you are a build behind, so if I can please ask you to update both the forum and EE to the latest build, that would be great.

Meanwhile, I’ll look into this, since it’s working. Just to clarify, everything works if there is *one* forum board, but with two anything that is in a language variable.. what happens? Gets output directly to the screen? Can you post a screenshot of what you’re seeing?

    Hi Lisa,

I’ve updated and the problem is still there. Yep, it works if one board is defined but not if two are. I’ve attached a screenshot.

    Cheers

Ok, I’ll need to look into this a bit more.  Probably over this evening, I’ll get back to you when I have some more information!

    Hi Dry -

I was able to verify this behavior this morning.  Derek Jones has a fix for you - which you can get by emailing him (and that’s email vs. a pvt here in the forums).
