Hi,

somehow I had the impression EE and Core were “flat file” CMSs, so I am wondering about the following: what is the database for that is being mentioned in the prep section? Is it necessary for an EE installation and for managing a website or is it an additional tool/feature for those who need a database for something? Do EE and Core in the same way?

Thanks in advance for advice. 😊

Oh, no, EE requires a dedicated database. There isn’t any “flat file” style data storage available as a primary solution. No matter what, you’re gonna need a database.
