Some EE6 Add-Ons icons not showing

How Do I?

I just upgraded from EE5 to EE6. All of the native addons, and the Freeform Pro one, are not displaying the icons in the cp. This has happened on a few sites recently, not all. I have re-uploaded the themes directory, the images, and all the add-ons. Why would this happen?

Perhaps a browser cache problem ? Try to clean your browser cache, perhaps the EE CP cache too.

Not a caching issue. I have tried several browsers and incognito/private windows. It is unclear to me where the icons are stored, but the third party addons seem to be able to load the default correctly. I have not re-named the images or themes directories, I have set both images and themes directories to 777 in case. Where else could they be? All the other icons in the CP work, the only ones that don’t are the core addons and freeform pro.

I have three installs of ee 7.2.9 and the only icons that show in the cp in two of them are the ones I installed myself. Tried everything, asked several times in the eecms slack group and nobody has a clue why they vanish. must be an ee black hole somewhere. 1 works just fine. given up caring. Strange thing is they are all with the same hosting company and all set up the same way, system folder is above the root, all permissions the same.

Not my only gripe with the cp frankly …

I figured my issue out.

The CP addons icons only show correctly if the index file matches is what you say it is.

For me, during an upgrade, I work with a renamed index and admin files on the live server. I rename them to admin-x.php and index-x.php and then rename back once tested to save time.

If you forget to add the custom index file filename in the URL and Path Settings, Website index page field, the icons in addons do not work. The back end requires the index file to work properly. hope this helps!
