Hi,
I’m using EE since 2 years already (3.5.2 version now) but I’ve never seen something like that. Yesterday, when I added a new entry and pressed “Submit” button… all entries disappeared! Not only from this channel but from all! They are still visible on the front and I know they still are in database but they just disapeared. After a few minutes they back.
I was trying to clear the cache (CMS and browser), cookies, log in/log out, change browser etc. After some time (10-15 minutes, maybe longer) all entries are visible again.
That’s very annoying issue as I cannot work in CP. Did you get something similar?
Thanks for you help.
So they aren’t actually deleted, but the entry manager shows no entries even when adjusting the filters? Certainly never seen anything like that before. What add-ons are you running? Are you using dynamic config? Perhaps you’re submitting to a different domain (www/no-www, .etc) and your dynamic config is selecting a different database? You may need to make a video capture of your screen so we can see it in action, the exact steps you are taking, the resulting behavior, etc.
Thanks for your answers.
I’m not using any add-on for displaying the entries in CP. I use just a few add-ons since a long time and never had something similar. I use Transcribe, Low Reorder, Low Variables, Freeform and MC Country. Also I’m not using dynamic config.
It looks like the entries are not visible - I get an info “No entries found” but on the other hand pagination looks fine. Same the front of my website. So database it’s not broken or somthing.
I wanted to attach the screenshot but it’s not possible here I think. Anyway I can send you via e-mail. I’m still observing CP and try to find any pattern as maybe it happens in some channels only.
Transcribe can modify the system pretty heavily as it pertains to entries, it wouldn’t necessarily be an add-on whose primary feature is modifying the entry manager. I’d go ahead and update ExpressionEngine and all of your add-ons in case you’re seeing an interaction of an already-fixed bug, and if you still get the behavior you might ping the Transcribe team. I’m wondering if on submission it’s filtering for a specific language that you do not have any entries for, etc.
You can upload a video or screenshot to Dropbox, Google Docs, Cloud.ly, etc. and put a link here. We do not allow direct uploads to our forums.
Thanks for the video, that was helpful. Armchair debugging based on what you’ve shared, and not seeing the URLs, I’m guessing something with Transcribe. You can also always temporarily disable all extensions by going to Developer > Utilities > Debug Extensions, select them all, and choose Disable from the bulk action menu. Enabling them reverses this, but it would prevent all extension code from running so you can do a quick gut check.
Guys, I got this answer from Transcribe:
“Transcribe has no filtering or functionality on the Entry Manager listing page. To confirm this, you can edit the Transcribe settings and change Transcribe Enabled to No to disable Transcribe’s processing (without losing any of your data or language associations).”
I did what they suggested so I disabled the Trancribe in settings and it looks like this is true.
In the next few days I will update the CMS and then I can say something more.
Sure, and we’re happy to take a look directly for you if you’d like to put in a support ticket. I’ve never seen anything of that sort though, so I don’t think other than having you disable all extension I’d have any other advice for troubleshooting from afar.
If you have steps to reproduce on a clean install, feel free to submit a bug report. Without a reproducible bug, there is nothing we can do because this is only happening to you on your installation. So if you cannot reproduce on a clean installation, you will need to put in a support ticket (first three months are free for valid license holders) since it will require one of our engineers logging in to your system and debugging what is wrong on your specific environment.
Hi Derek,
Finally I solved this problem!
I checked the logs of the database and… I found something like this:
2017-06-21T08:45:41.428236Z 17714007 [Warning] InnoDB: Cannot add field `wd_field_id_156_234` in table `tmp`.`#sql_1edc_0` because after adding it, the row size is 8164 which is greater than maximum allowed size (8126) for a record on index leaf page.
I solved it using it: https://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=77398
Problem gone. I can’t see similar issue now. Entries are visible after updating/adding new entries and everything looks well.
Thanks for discussion and your help!
