Hey Joe,
Just wanted to jump in on this one since I heard my name mentioned. 😊
They older versions of the docs actually were unavailable at the time. We took the feedback you gave us, and it seemed like a pretty good idea to make the last few major versions of the docs available for download. I also jumped on the docs and added the prominent Changed in version 2.6 notice to the Relationships introduction. Hope that makes it clearer!
Yet another sad day in paradise. And again, sure EllisLab, you’re entitled to do whatever you please with your product. But, that doesn’t mean you can’t make strategical wise decisions.
Like, do you have any stats on how many ExpressionEngine installations gets updated… ever? I’d think getting as many sites as possible moved to the latest version would be of immense value to the product as a whole - both its reputation, and to bring down the number of support requests.
In my experience, EE developers almost NEVER upgrades the sites they’ve made. The reason is that it’s an absolute pain to upgrade EE, because of the dependency on addons. So, instead of keeping it at “absolute pain”, you move towards “insanely painful” with your latest release. I must congratulate.
Have you had a bad experience emailing us? I’m sorry if you have, but we’re generally very good at replying to reasonable emails.
I had a recent not so great experience emailing… I sent an email to sales@ before v 2.6 came out with some specific questions about the Developer Preview program and didn’t get a response to my initial email or my follow-up… ticket #72699.
