trouble with the MSM in IE10?

My student employee submitted the following report after testing our sites in IE10:

You may recall that browsers will get locked out of EE’s login for reasons having to do with cookies. The workaround here is to clear cookies and log in.

Well, IE 10 runs into this problem especially hard. When changing sites in MSM, you are brought back to the login screen, unable to properly log in. But the workaround fails in IE 10. Effectively, you are restricted to site 1.

I am in the process of playing with IE’s settings to see if there is perhaps an option that will alleviate this. I will also try to verify that cookies and cache are actually being deleted when IE purports they are.

Has anyone else tested the EE backend on IE10? Any problems to report? Obviously, this isn’t a big problem for us just yet, but I imagine it could be a growing one soon…  Thanks!

    Hello Dennis,

I believe that IE10 is still in preview and will be released with Windows 8. If the issue is still present when IE10 is launched, then we can visit this as a possible bug.

    What do you think?

Do things work in the current release of IE for you? (IE9)

    Thank you,

Yes, things work in IE9. However, I believe the entire purpose of a preview release for a major web browser would be so that software such as ExpressionEngine could be updated PRIOR to the worldwide release. It’s my understanding that this web browser will be released in October. As such, I’d expect a bit more of a response. I will totally understand if this issue is not seen by other users of the system and is something we end up needing to fix ourselves, but I would think that Ellis Labs would want to at least test the system, no? I’m told by our networking group that the current preview releases are essentially the same as what the final product will be.

    Hey Dennis,

I understand your point. At this time we only test against final release version.

The ExpressionEngine Control Panel is tested extensively with the final release versions of the web browsers listed here.

    Internet Explorer 8 and above
    Firefox 13
    Safari 5.1
    Chrome 19
    Opera 11.64

Is there anything else I can help you with?

    Cheers,

    Hey Dennis,

I do not believe that there has been any testing on IE 10 at this point.

I will ask about when this may happen.

    Cheers,
