This question may be related to a resolved thread.

I am working on a client site that was upgraded to 2.3.1 before I was brought on to work on it from what I assume was 1.x.  We are making further design and modifications, so I migrated the site to our dev servers and received this same error.  I have migrated all site files and the db twice.  I am still getting the above error that I have never seen before and have not been able to resolve.  The site is running fine on the live servers.

I am wondering if there could be some db issues leftover from the upgrade that could be causing the error.  I ask because I am experiencing the same issue as the user in the previous thread.  Any ideas?

    Hi John,

I am sorry you’ve having this error. We can do a few things to troubleshoot.

An upgrade form 1.x can cause some problems with the site_system_preferences array. If you have access to the database, look in exp_sites for that column. The data you find there is a base64 encoded serialized array. We need to see what’s in there, so visit this utility.

What you do here is paste the content of that column into the field and check the “base64” box. Let me know the output of that and we can see where the trouble might be.

I had the same message after an unsuccessful upgrade to Version 2. I’ve temporarily given up on upgrading (I posted the error code elsewhere) and now am getting this “unable to load site preferences” message when I try to go to my old version 1.6.9 control panel. I’ve attached a text file of my unserializer output.

As my site has been down now for hours, I’m getting desperate. Can someone please tell me how to restore my site? Here is a link to my previous post when I attempted to upgrade to EE version 2 last night, which led to my attempting to roll back to 1.69:

I attempted another upgrade to Version 2 and got the same message:

    Error Number: 1062

Duplicate entry '0' for key 1

ALTER TABLE `exp_member_homepage` ADD PRIMARY KEY `member_id` (`member_id`)

    Filename: updates/ud_200.php

    Line Number: 1700

I’m going to leave it at that. If someone can provide support, let me know. Thanks.

    Kevin,

I sent you an e-mail with login info although I’m not totally sure of the state of my site at this moment—all I know is that it is in flux or mid-upgrade. The FTP info is in it, but my admin password to the EE control panel may not be right. I dropped all the tables in the database and then re-imported it. One issue was that my database had over 100,000 phony members in it who had been dropping spam onto the site for about three years (I wasn’t actively maintaining it). I thought the spamming had jammed the database somehow; however, others have the same problems with upgrading.

    Thanks again.

Just posting a note here to let onlookers know that we’re working with John privately on this for the time being. I’ll post an update back here once we have something to share!
