Hi, I’m currently having the problem mentioned here: http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/209534/

Was this ever really resolved and what can I do to fix it? Unfortunately, I don’t have the option to create a new database at this time but need to resolve this upgrade.

    Thanks

    Hey James L,

I am sorry you have run into what seems like a failed upgrade.

Can you show me your specific error?

More than likley, recovery from this error will require following this guide.

Please let me know what error you are seeing and we can go from there.

    Thank you James!

    Cheers,

    Hey Shane, thanks!

    The message is:

    A Database Error Occurred
    Error Number: 1054
    Unknown column ‘wm_x_offset’ in ‘exp_file_watermarks’
    ALTER TABLE `exp_file_watermarks` CHANGE `wm_x_offset` `wm_hor_offset` int
    Filename: updates/ud_240.php
    Line Number: 83

I’ve been through the guide, tested server requirements, dropped all db content and imported from prior the upgrade and ran the upgrade again, and still the same problem. As I mentioned the only thing I can’t do is create a new database at this time.

    Any help appreciated.

    UPDATE:

After manually configuring the DB for the above change (as well as a few more it had trouble with). I got the update process to run up until 5.1, then I got a white screen when it tried updating to 5.2. Because I had no idea if the update had actually worked, I removed the installer to check on the CP. Oddly, the CP seems fine and says I’m running the latest 5.2 but my config file still says 5.1, which suggests the update process didn’t actually finish.

How can I make sure the update has been successful, and that this attempt won’t cause problems with future updates?

    Any ideas, suggestions appreciated.

    Hello James L,

The Control Panel gets the version from the config file, so that is really odd.

Are you checking the correct config file?

    Thank you,

    Hey Shane,

Yes it’s the right file but now I’ve gone back to it it’s showing $config[‘app_version’] = “0”; Anyway, I’ve manually changed this to “252” and that removes the ‘version mismatch’ error from the CP home.

    Hey James,

Okay, run that way for a bit and I will leave this open. If anything, and I mean, anything looks funky, let me know.

    Cheers,
