Moving the System Directory Above Webroot

    Hi All

    Im having issue with Moving the System Directory Above Webroot developing locally.

    is this correct ?

    sites——  dev.mysite.com—- public_html
                |                      |
                |                      |  - admin.php
                |                      |  - index.php
                |                      |  - images
                |                      |  - themes
                |
                |————————system
     
    Because im getting a 403 error when viewing - dev.mysite.com

    My system folder is at the same level as my public_html folder:

    -public_html
    —-index.php
    —-images
    —-etc…
    -system

    I think the idea is to keep the system folders outside of public

    Yep, you want public_html (or whichever directory is your web root) to be siblings with your system directory. This shows how the two should appear next to each other.

    Glad Kevin and Julie got you squared away.  Heh- I have a local running on MAMP too- very handy!  But yes, took me a bit of sorting out.  If you run into any more issues, just let us know.
