I have an install of Expression Engine running on a site that has (no) sign up form yet I’m getting hammered by registrations. I got nearly 5000 until HostGator put a block on the database.
Anyone know how to stop this?

Well I may have answered my own question. I went to:
CP Home › Admin › Members and Groups › Membership Preferences
General Configuration
Allow New Member Registrations?
I of course set this to no. We’ll see… As you were.

Yes, indeed, if you are not running a membership based site, turning off registrations is important!
