    Hello,

I’ve having a problem with a site in development - the Site Name link button in the top right corner of the admin seems broken as of upgrade to 2.4. Whilst I can handle this in development it will be a pain for administrators once the site has gone live.

I’ve been comparing other Expression Engine installs this link is usually http://sitename.com/index.php?URL=http://sitename.com/

On this particular site the link is more like: http://sitename.com/index.php?URL=index.php

Which effectively redirects to http://index.php/ and therefore doesn’t work.

I’ve not removed index.php from the URLs yet, but I suspect there is a configuration variable at fault.

    General configuration shows…

Name of your site’s index page as: index.php
URL to the root directory of your site as http://sitename.com/

This site is not using Multiple Site Manager either. Can anyone shed any light on this?

    Many thanks,

    Steve

    Hi Steve,

    This is certainly odd!

Both of those settings are correct, Just for a quick test, what is the result if you leave “Name of your site’s index page” blank?

Have you made any modifications to /system/expressionengine/config/config.php ? Are there any third-party add-ons in use on this site?

    Cheers,

    Hi Dan,

    Thanks for your response.

I’ve tried that too - the Site Name link just changes to http://sitename.com/index.php?URL=

No modifications to config.php, I’ve even substituted a config file from a site without this issue and just edited the config info like license_number, cp_url, site_label etc, but this made no difference.

The site in development was originally an upgrade from 1.6x if that makes a difference?

I’m using quite a number of add ons - but these were also updated to latest versions (where applicable) at the same time as the update to 2.4 (from 2.3.1):
    Discussion Forum
    Solspace Calendar
    CartThrob
    Channel Images
    Char Limit
    Drop Date
    MX Title Control
    Playa
    PT List
    PT Switch
    Reegion Select
    Safecracker
    Switchee
    Zoo Visitor

Is the site name link generated from the database or a config file?

    Best regards,

    Steve

    Hi Steve,

If everything looks to be in order in /system/expressionengine/config/config.php then let’s poke back at General Configuration.

Do the values for URL to your “themes” folder and Theme Folder Path look correct?

If that is all in order, we might need to get a closer look here.

    Cheers,

    Hi Dan,

I’ve checked this too. Both ‘URL to Themes Folder’ and ‘Theme Folder Path’ seem fine.

I’ve got the same issue on both a local dev site and an online copy. Please let me know if you need anything else.

    Regards

    Steve

    To all,

We are working with Steve on this privately and will post here with a resolution.

Looks like the resolution on this one was to make sure the

    $config['base_url']

variable was filled out with the full base URL in config.php.
