Occasionally, while in the EE 2.3.1 control panel, I get bopped out into my public 404 page. I first noticed it with Low Variables, but I’m having the issue now with doing a “multi-edit” on a large number of entries. Are there any go-to remedies for this?

I’m just wondering what could be up. It’s difficult to explain this error to clients, as it appears to be intermittent and for no reason.

We run an MSM site that has a fairly long .htaccess file, but it doesn’t give us issues in any other way. When the site isn’t a peak traffic I might try to disable this.

Hello Rob,

It sounds like you have spent some time troubleshooting already, which is great.

I would strongly suggest taking the .htaccess file out of the way when you can for testing. More than likely it’s going to be the source of the intermittent 404 pages.

One place where it definitely happens is if I attempt to put a full link in a global variable. As soon as I attempt to store something like http://expressionengine.com, I get the 404 error.
