On some of my sites, the Content > Pages submenu is visible, even though the Pages module has never been installed. This seems to happen on sites that use EE 2.3 and Structure.

I wouldn’t mind it, except that it creates conflicts with Structure and throws SQL errors if I try to edit content after navigating to the Publish/Edit screen via the Pages sub-menu.

The issue seems to be resolved in newer installs, using EE 2.4 and Structure 3.2.2. In older installations, the problem can be resolved by uninstalling Structure, installing/uninstalling Pages, and re-installing Structure. (i.e. Running the Pages uninstaller clears the Pages menu from the Content area.)

However, for existing sites that have this issue, where I cannot reasonably nuke all of my Structure pages, it’d be helpful to know where in its core EE decides whether or not to show that menu, so I can try to get rid of it by some manual process.

    Hello Michael,

I am sorry to hear you are running into this problem.

We really do not like to see users modify core files. Is this the only option you have? Are you able to update the other sites to the latest version as that seems to be a consistent fix?

Please let me know your thought.

    Cheers,

Unfortunately, while newer installs don’t manifest the same glitch, upgrading from an old version doesn’t seem to eliminate the issue.

I need to figure out specifically what activates the Pages menu so I can turn if off.

Bah. Actually, this turns out to be not an issue with EE at all. It’s being caused by the MX Extended Content Menu Accessory. Which is deprecated for EE 2.4 anyway. Sorry for the confusion.

Makes sense! If you ever want more control over the admin menu bar in future, you could try Zoo Flexible Admin. That’s about as granular as you can be!

    Micheal,

Good to see you found the cause of your problem. I would also like to second Andrew’s suggestion for using Zoo Flexible Admin - it’s really top notch.

Is there anything else I can assist you with?

    Sean
