Multiple Site Manager not working after update

We’ve just updated our development server from 2.2.2 to 2.4.  One of the first things I noticed is that the Multiple Site Manager will show a list, but when a site is selected it reloads the default site (so we cannot get to any of the other sites).  I’ve checked to ensure that the files are present and it’s enabled.  One item of note is that we are licensed for 78 sites and have 16 enabled on development, counting the default site.  Not sure if that will make a difference.  Any help with this would be appreciated - thanks!

By looking at the Multiple Site Manager’s code changes, we were able to determine that this was due to the Cookie Domain setting.  We currently have our development server set to Sessions only, so I don’t believe we were using this setting but it IS set on each of our sites.  For some reason, we can’t figure out the appropriate setting - only blanking it out seems to allow the Multiple Site Manager to switch sites successfully.  I’m going to go blank it on each site to get the system working again.  Can anyone replicate this?  Is this a bug?

    Hi Dennis,

I’m sorry you are having trouble with MSM after the update.

Can you confirm for me that you updated MSM along with your update to 2.4? You should have version 2.1.2 of MSM installed with EE 2.4

With the cookie settings, MSM really likes those to be blank as long as each site is running on a separate domain or sub-domain. EE will intelligently assign cookies based on the site that is being accessed.

Let me know what you experience after blanking those out.

    Cheers,

Yes, we updated the MSM to 2.1.2.  Once we blanked the cookie setting in question on each site, things are working again.  Thanks 😊

    Dennis,

It’s good to see that Dan was able to get you all sorted out. Is there anything else I can assist you with?

    Hello Dennis Bond,

Glad to hear things are all sorted for you. Cookies, go figure that such a tasty snack would cause a problem.

Thank you for using the ExpressionEngine forums!

    Cheers,
