Hi got a weird one. I have a file upload preference complete with a couple of image manipulations (one to constrain a resize to a certain max width or height, one to create a thumbnail via a crop).

Everything worked PERfect except now it’s not. Weirdly, the resize contrain isn’t doing SQUAT (it’s putting the same image unresized into the resize subdirectory I set) and the crop is even weirder, because it’s cropping, but not from the center any more, and it’s RESIZING the damn thing down to the 75 on smallest length before cropping (not the behavior we want, we just want it to take a chunk of 75 x 75 px from the middle of the image).

The only thing that changed is I went from a previous version of EE2 (sorry can’t remember which one) to the latest, 2.3.1.

Lastly, this update also hosed the upload manager popup - it’s no longer grayed out behind the popup, and missing some CSS stuff like it no longer has a X for the close button, and the top darker bar where that close button ought to be is missing (and the X button has turned into a confusing “close” link). In fact, I just created a screenshot, attached. Don’t know if this is a related problem but it could be.

Mind you, I’ve troubleshooted the hell out of the second problem with the look of the file manager, reuploaded the themes directory etc, to no avail. Am I missing something?

    Hi Lynne,

Sorry about the delay responding, we appreciate your patience on this. It seems that there are a couple of known bugs related image manipulations. While waiting on a fix for this I would recommend the third party add-on CE Image which is outstanding and well supported by the Developer.

I reeeeeeally don’t want to go into using third party stuff for what should (and has, and will) be native capability. Would it help just to go back to the previous version? How would I get the last previous version where this worked properly (I think I updated from a fairly older version I had initially installed, stupidly).

How long until the bug fixes come out? Might be able to convince the client to wait a bit since there’s a very high probability she’s done updating said site for the time being (having already uploaded all the stuff needed for the initial site). As long as I know what the problem is (as in, I didn’t mess anything up myself)...and I know it will be solved…I just have to tell her to forgo updates for now. Not hard as she is busy moving to a new country. :D

    Lynne,

If you have the original backup you made of your site and database before upgrading you could go back to that version. As for the bug fixes there have been no official announcements for an exact date on when the next version will be released. However in this blog post near the end we see that:

As of the time of publication, the EE Reactor Team has nine confirmed contributions scheduled for release in EE 2.4 (late January).
