My EE 2.3.1 sites are all doing this. When selecting File->Print Preview from any browser (tested Chrome 16, Firefox 8, IE 8), the URLs of every link are included in parenthesis next to each link on the page, including menu navigation.

I thought it was just me or my sites since browsing ShowEE, most other EE2 sites don’t do this. However, I found that the Infinity Blade II site does do it. So I’m confused.

So since some sites do it and others don’t - is it an EE2 thing? Or a server thing? I can’t seem to find anything in the config settings that mention this behavior.

It’s not just my computer since it was my client that brought this to my attention and wondered if it could be disabled.

Its the print style set by the css. Nothing to do with EE. Open up your css and search for

a[href]:after { content: " (" attr(href) ")"; }

Remove that code and it should be fine.

Most default browser CSS can be overwritten by including your own print stylesheet.

An older article here with a lot of resources but all good. Most print stylesheets don’t need an awful lot of work and a couple of rules would suffice.

Let us know if that puts you on the right track.

THANK YOU! That was it. That was driving me insane. I use the HTML5 Boilerplate template as my starting point and didn’t realize that was in the media print section by default.

Thanks John Henry. I haven’t gotten around to creating the print stylesheet yet and didn’t realize HTML5 Boilerplate already included some style rules.
