Getting a count of embedded templates on a rendered page

Is there a way to get the total number of embedded templates on a page?
Specifically, I’m looking to create a very small performance monitor for development that includes that count as well as a query count for the page.

Other than viewing the code and counting? 😉
Other than that or reading through the output profiler’s results none that I know of.
