We’re now working for quite a while with separate development and live servers. That works pretty well, but it remains a challenge to:

-migrate live data into test
-copy the proper template on going live
-maintaining custom fields on live and test instantaneously (field numbers field_id_xxx should be in sync).
-settings that prevent the test server to send email to users
-settings to prevent that visits to the test server are added in Google analytics

Anyone have suggestions for best practices?

I’m going to move this thread to the Community Help forums as I believe it will be a better fit there as this is not really a technical support question so as such I’m afraid is outside the scope of our support here.

Hopefully there will be some users who have done this sort of thing before though and so can comment on this for you though.
